Question 5 series wagon

My wife is looking at buying a 00 to 03 5 series wagon. Any thoughts or things I should be aware of?

Great cars. The E39 chassis is very well developed, with no real hiccups. All 5-er tourings (BMW-speak for wagon) were only available as automatics in America, but later ones were available as a 540iT version (282hp V8!). Also, look for one with the sport package, if possible. This will give you shadowline trim (chromeless trim), a slightly better driving suspension and a lower geared differential. Even a 528iT, when equipped with the sport pack is pretty darn quick and a whole buncha fun to drive. Enjoy!
