alarms troubles

Anybody have problems w/their alarms going off for no reason in there 5 series(97 540i). Ive actually tried turning off the internal motion detector by pressing my key twice when locking the door but I dont believe this is working. Supposedly the warning light under rear view mirror should stay on but it doesnt. This appears to be random and there has been no attempt of entry.

Is there anyway to adjust the sensitivity? or is there a way to just turn off the alarm. Ive looked in the manual but I couldnt find anything.

Thanks

Isaac

Ps Like every car I buy used, I debugg it the first 6mo.

I had similar problems with my '98 528. First I replaced the fuse and it worked for a few days. Then, I ended up replacing several items including the gas door lock, and one of the rear door lock switches. Dealer said they are in series and when one goes out (he said usually the gas door lock) then it can blow out the other door lock actuators and the fuse. No probs since then.

Youre kidding me. Well, I will pull out these fuses and check them. Thanks. I will update you in a few days.
