Tailight Out False Positive

Hi All;

I am getting a perpetual "check tail/brake light" on my rear passenger. Of course, I checked to make sure all lights were working, even swapped all lights from passenger side to drivers side (to see if problem was in one of the bulbs), still getting the signal from the right rear. Any ideas? Appreciate any help. Thanks

Jeff

see my post under e34 radiop woes
there's a module in one of those *****ng electrical boxes called the 'check control' unit....like a giant relay. same deal with me, I was getting goofy spurious error messages (worse than windows NT 3.50).
I yanked that unit and put it on the shelf and now all is well.
everything works and no nag messages

Sorry JonyRR I read that other thread and have no idea where you are talking about or what I could be looking for. Any guidance would be appreciated.

heres what I posted verbatim:
'have you considered the 'check control' module?
I've recently gone thru massive issues with various senders warning of all kinds of weird schisa, I investigate and everything's fine.
I finally yanked the check control module and no worries.
I can manually check my coolant level, oil level, brake pad thickness, etc, just fine without needing a stoopid komkputr to nag me constantly...
and bonus tip, the DME relay is just an ordinary relay one can find anywhere; I replaced the overpriced BMW part nujmber with a hella, no ill effects noted.'

get a bentley manual if you don't have one...on my '94 530I the check control module is in the LH side 'lectric box near the driver; it's a big black module with 2 separate plugs on the back...the smaller of the two big modules that take up the entire outer side of the electrical box....

Much more helpful. I don't have the Bentley, I have some sw manual that's almost impossible to navigate. Thanks for the guidance.
