88 e28 Idle problem.

Looking for suggestions on what to look for.

I have an 88 E28. In the summer heat, the car tends to stall when approaching an intersection (redlight) or slowing for a stop. It runs great except for this stalling problem.

I've changed the fuel filters and external pump. seems the main relay and the fuel pump relays are fine.

The stall problems is intermittent. on cooler days (less than 95) it doesn't stall, but when it gets any hotter it will. My tach surges at start up but for only a few seconds (15sc) then steady at 800 to 900 rpms at idle.

I've check all vacuum hoses and replaced. Where else can I look for the cause of the stall issue?

This could very well be a case of "When all you have is a hammer, everything looks like a nail", but your symptoms sound similar to a problem that I was having.

I was having the same things happen (stalling at lights, hot weather making it worse, surging starts). See my post here:

Different model but similar symptoms. If nothing else it doesn't cost anything to test it out.
