Fault codes - how to read - '95 525
 

Hi
On our '95 525 the old trick of pressing the pedal 5 times and getting the fault codes via "Engine Check" light does not work. I have done it many times and no joy. (On my 635 I had not troubles reading the codes). I have checked the gas pedal switch by validating the the car downshifts when pedal is floored.
So two questions:
1. How can I find out what the trouble with the Error Code display is?
2. Is there a low price OBD 1 code reader on the marked that can read the codes that interfaces with the large connector in the engine?

Did you depress the brake pedal 5 times quickly? Are you not getting the "1000" default signal?

Hi GUs

The Check Engine light does not even flicker after depressing the gas pedal 5 times very quickly past the "downshift" switch. The key is in the ignition, the ignition is fully on, the indicator lights are all on, etc.
