Help-ABS/DBC/ASC Warning Lights Showing

Need some advice on this problem- Just had left rear drive shaft replaced on my E39 -530i and now the ABS+DSC+ASC Lights are showing constant plus the speedometer is not working- can anyone advise what may have gone wrong here-all working fine prior to this. Does the ABS sensor also control the speed reading?

Who replaced it?

Speed sensor is on the differential. I would get that fixed first.

ABS Warning Lights Showing Constant

Unfortunately the drive was not done by a main dealer mechanic. Is the speed sensor easily found on the differential or is is hidden away. Also is it possible that ABS warning lights failed to reset after the sensors were removed and replaced and now need to clear the fault codes on the instrument panel.

many thanks for your help.

The speed sensor is easy to find.

If the wheel speed sensors were replaced with the car off then they should not throw a code.

My guess is they damaged the wires on the main speed sensor. I would fix the speed sensor, reset the codes and go from there.

Had the ABS sensor replaced.I am told the abs sensor was not making contact due to a worn wheel bearing but surely this should have shown previously on the instrument panel also have now found that the fuel consumption reading per gallon is considerably less than previous and wonder if the computer setting for the consumption level has been changed or erased from the ECU ?. Is this possible. Forgive my lack of knowledge on this subject and appreciate your kind help.

If the wheel speed sensor was not reading due to a bad wheel bearing then the bearing would need to be replaced. It would have to be a very bad bearing and I doubt the car would be drivable.

They probably damaged the sensor and just told you that so you wouldn't question the repair. Same thing happened to me once at a dealer.

Fuel consumption can be reset each time you fill-up. If they pulled the battery cable then it was reset then and you are getting the fuel consumption since the battery was reconnected.

Yes I agree this is what probably happened and yes the battery was disconnected and now I am getting a normal fuel consumption reading after I filled up again. Your help is greatly appreciated-many thanks.

Yeah its bad enough paying $125/hr labor but when they break something it would be nice if they would fix it for free.
