1998 BMW 528i - newbee BUYER - Help!
Hey guys, need your thoughts on a '98 BMW 528i with 83,000 orig miles. The car is cherry with excellent maint/service records and has always been stored winters. ask price is $7500. I've got an '83 Porsche 944 and this BMW is better than it.......what are everyone's thoughts? what are typical maint/service items I can expect? I only find one service bulletin issued for this model/year. thanks

The cooling system is the big "gotcha" on these cars. Check the seller to see if if has been replaced already or at least inspected. Engine belt tensioners are another item that will need attention.
That said, for the price, it sounds like a good deal. Typically, the problems I mention seem to come around at the 90,000 mile mark. Some sooner, some later of course.
