Water Pump Belt Tensioner Upgrade
I am replacing the thermostat on a 01 530i and am doing anything else that makes sense. The idler and tension pulleys for the water pump had noisy bearings so I called Pelican Parts and talked with someone who told me that the spring type tension pulley that simply unbolts cannot be replaced by itself and that the whole assembly is all that is offered. He then advised me that BMW recommends an upgrade to the hydraulic style.
I received the parts. While looking at them and recalling what the spring style looks like it, is hard to imagine the conversion. I have tried searching this but can not find anything. Is there anyone that can save me a possibly wasted trip to my shop by confirming the conversion and direct me to any known documentation. Thank you |

REALOEM.com has all kinds of detailed diagrams. Try looking for the same model of your car but a few years newer.
