Swapping Engines
 
I have a '98 528i with a cracked head. I have the chance to buy an '97 M3 with 75k miles so I could use the motor and 5 spd automatic tranny.... will this work?? Where do I go to find out??

It should fit at the very least. Both the e36 M3 and e39's used a m5x based block. As far as the electronics go, I wouldn't know.
