Speedometer fails when cold

Needs to know if anybody have speedometer problems on 1993 525i BMW. Speedometer will not work when cold (temperature falls below 50F) upon start up. It works fine after driving for a while, but this only happens after you stop, shuts off the engine, then re-starts. Any idea will be appreciated..Thanks...
