CPS issues

Hello everyone,
I am new to the forum. Having an issue with my 1999 BMW 540i. Getting codes p1519 and p1522 for cps sensors. Replaced both sensors and cleared codes. Codes keep coming back (usually upon restarting the motor). Accelerates/drives fine, idle is a little rough (very little). My research has lead me to believe this is a timing issue or a vanos seal issue. Is there a way to diagnose this before tearing it all apart? Any help from you BMW guys would be much appreciated.
