Jacking points

Hi,

I went to change my oil the other day on my 99 528, and had a b*tch of a time getting under there. I know where the jack points are, but where can I safely place the car on Jack stands?

Thanks in advance.

I have this problem sometimes with my E36. You can jack the car, but then there's no place to put the stands.

A safe bet is to place the actual jack under a suspension point (where the suspension mounts to the chassis). That point is supporting the entire weight of the car anyways. From the rear, you can place the jack under the differential. There are jack pads that Pelican sells that work with the E36 - they go in the factory holes for the jack in the side of the car. I'm not sure if the five series has the same outlet.

Use some wood or an old rolled-up newspaper inbetween your jack and your car when you jack it up to prevent any damage or scratching.
