Are 5's unloved, or what??
Is it just me, or do other 5 series owners find it annoying that almost ALL BMW performance information, aftermarket and otherwise, is focused on the 3 series?
I know there are a LOT more 3's out there, and they have a coupe version as well as the M#, but come ON! I can't even find a decent performance exhaust system for an E34 V8 car any lomger...

With all those other toys why do you need a performance exhaust for your sedan
![]() I have been looking for the same for my 99 528, and you are right about performance. From what I have read the increase in HP isn't worth the price unless you are just going for sound. Check out Dinan, or bmwtips.com for some info.

On the 2.5 liter engines, you can install a supercharger kit?
In reality, the 5-series sedans are *not* performance cars. Yes, they are BMWs, but they are *heavy*, which means that they are somewhat limited in their handling characteristics. I think that the majority of 5-series owners are more like my parents then they are like myself (I'm 33). Just a thought... |

Bob,
It's never about need, is it? I find that if I upgrade in some way every couple of years, I can stay happy with the 94 car, and avoid continually getting a newer version every 3 yrs or so...(I did that from 1981 to 1994, pretty much, and spent a lot of money for not much return... I am determined to keep this sedan long term, and I'm ready for about 325 hp or so... I think that means, chip, exhaust, big brakes, cold air inlet, what else???

Supercharger kit?
Agreed - my wife likes the 3-Series and the 5-series a bit more because they are meatier cars. I'm not going to compare it to a truck, but they are like the Mercedes E-class, which is a very heavy-feeling vehicle, yet suprisingly light on the handling touch. |

Be glad you don't own a 7-series. Talk about some $$$ for performance upgrades!
