1999 540i timing chain issue- bad tensioner?
 
Looking to buy a 99 with 150,000mi. Serious timing chain slap noise at idle. seems to originate on left side. How likely is it that the tensioner has failed.
I am not interested in a full front of engine overhaul. Can I get buy with a new tensioner? Thanks
