I have a 2006 BMW that sucked the timing belt into the crankshaft. The motor still turns over but I'm sure it's toast. I purchased a running, used motor. My question is what is the easiest way to change out the motor. Can it be dropped out the bottom engine and transmission, or does it have to be removed out through the top of the engine bay?

Sorry to hear about that! Really depends on whether you have a hoist you're working with or if you're using jackstands and a jack. Definitely easier to remove from the bottom by pulling the subframe and engine and trans if you're equipped with a hoist. If not you'd be better off using the cherry picker and removing the hood/center of front core support.
