ever heard of a 528i from 1983?

Hi all,

I'm looking at a BMW 528i (1983) and I can't find reference to such a model anywhere, only to the 528e. Does anyone know anything about this model car?

Hi, I don't know where you live but I have a 1985 528i and live in UK. This model was not available in the USA, I think. In the USA they had 528e and 535i. My 528i has the big six M30 engine and drives like a dream.

The car in question belongs to a friend of mine. I don't know if it's "grey market" (not sure what that is, really) but it's been owned by an American for at least 10 years. I'm in Huntsville, AL and the car's registered here. I wondered if it was some non-US version as I couldn't find any reference to it anywhere. It's a 1983 528i.

Grey market is a European-market car that has been imported into the states. Typically you have to change around a whole bunch of components to make it US-legal...
