Intermitant Speedometer/cruise

1995 BMW 525 with auto and cruise. Speedometer sometimes does not register speed. When the speedometer does not register speed the cruise control does not work. Speedometer and cruise control starts/stops working without appraent reason. It can work or not work for many miles or after stopping for a few minutes. Seems like there is a loose connection that fixes/disconnects itself. Does not seem to be temperature or weather related (high humidity). Fuel sender recently replaced (dealer of course) and the problem developed after that.

What i would do is get under the car and look for the speedometer impulse sender. This is tha part that sends signals to the speedo, registering speed. It's possible that the sender is loose or faulty. It should be located in the rear of the car, in the back of the differential. Check the plug that fits onto the sender, it's possible that it's loose or the switch may be faulty.
