Self-leveling system and shocks
I have a 2002 525i Sport Wagon whose air pump for the rear self-leveling system no longer works. The standard gas shocks do nothing as they are designed to work with the air shocks, so the rear of the car is practically dragging the ground. Is it feasible (safe) to replace the standard gas shocks with heavy duty ones rather than a costly air pump replacement?
