My question is...is it possible to fit an old-style dipstick to my engine? Has anyone done so? What is required?

Early E60's had the M54Bxx I believe, which indeed had a dipstick.
Shame. We lost the brilliant Vacuum Oil Change when the dipstick was replaced. It's custom machine work on a spare oil pan from here on out. I've been looking for kits for N54-series engines for a while.
