Changing E28 subframe bushes

Apparently I need to change the bushes between the subframe carrying the differential and the main body of the car. I understand that one approach is to remove the subframe and take it to a 50 ton press. Just wondered if anybody had experience of any other on-the-car approach. thanks Steve

I know this response is a little late coming, and even then not very helpful but...

If the bushing is like a suspension bushing and is not next to any sensitive equipment (i.e. gas lines or wires) then try torching it out. A small propane one should work fine. Then clean it out with some emory cloth and use silicon (don't use anything petroleum based) grease to install the new bushing.
