740il electrical problems

Hello all,

The driver's seat controls, mirror, and door locks quit working on my '93. The fuse box says nothing about the driver's seat and the relays aren't listed. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Bret

Looking at my Bentley manual for a '93, I don't see anything common yet between the items not working. However, it shows the power mirror fuses are F12 and F51 in the front distribution box. No relay shows in this circuit.

The door locks: Check fuse F20 in the front distribution box, F30, F31 and F44 in the rear distribution box. Some of these do feed a relay module for that shows to be in the rear distribution box as well for the door locks.

There is a table on page 610-46 that says Fuse 30 controls several items including the central locking and central body electronics. I'd check that fuse first. Try replacing it rather than just checking it if you have a spare.

There is a memory control module that controls the seat position, steering wheel position, and mirror position. I should have asked, is it only the memory feature that does not work? Do the manual switches still control the mirrors and seats and if you press the lock down manually, does it lock all four doors?

good luck

Hi all,
Autobonrun, I was wondering if you could tell me how extensive your bentley manual explains replacing seat motors cables and pulleys.
I'm having serious problems with both of my seats on a 92 735il. The driver seat is stuck in fully reclined position. Thanks JimFus

Sorry for the late response.

I've found the Bentley manual does not cover everything. However, along with a couple links on the internet, I've found it allows me to do most repairs. Here are a couple links I tend to reference along with the Bentley.
