1987 735
Hello All,
I am usually in the Porsche forum, but need another car, as my 930 is not big enough for my son and groceries. I am looking at a 1987 735 with 152K miles. All maintenence performed by dealer, original owner, 6 month old new trans, and totally loaded and cherry. Is $3500.00 fair, and what kind of gas mileage will I get? THANKS FOR YOUR HELP! fastlos 86 930 Powerhaus Stage 1 W/SC cams scary fast 68 AMX Burnout King 97 GMC Gone

Not a Bad Price
Hi, Carlos.
Given what you said has been done, $3,500 is more than fair. Kelly BB puts it at $4K and change. It all depends on what maintenance items might be outstanding. You mentioned the new tranny - a good thing, since they usually need rebuilding at 120 - 150K. The straight 6 often needs a head gasket about this time as well - not a killer cost, but once you are in there, you will want to do all the other maintenance items (water pump, all hoses, all that) and it adds up. I have a long list of "look-for's" I compiled when I had a string of E28's - they are mostly the same for your E32. Drop me your e-mail if you want that list. Have fun!

i was offered a 1988 735i, for $1200.00 just today. it has 190k miles on it, the seat back is broken on the drivers side, and the heater fan has been jury rigged with a toggle switch(bad groundstrap?) the muffler is shot.
the driver says it it slow to shift in cold mornings. could it be the filter, could this automatic have run 200k without replacement? engine fires right up with no noises. should i pass or go on this if i want a daily driver? imin a 944 now and can't haul a thing, and entry is .....difficult. i have good skillsmat wrenching. thanks

I couldn't tell you. I'm happy with the one I bought, it was kept really well though. I hear the trannies do go, so if it hasn't been replaced or rebuilt your looking at a few thousand to rebuild it, or take a chance on a used one. Good luck, they are awesome old cars.
