Fan control "knob"?

Hello All,

I just bought an 87 735, and the only problem I could find is that the round control that sets the blower fan is stuch in the low position. I can't turn it with my fingers, and didn't want to break anything in there. Is this common, and is there a fix other than taking the dashboard apart? Does anyone out there have any mpg numbers on these cars? The owner told me 22 mpg on the freeway at 75, and 16-18 around town?

Thanks so much!

Carlos

You Got It!

I just posted a reply to your other thread saying you were looking at this car - obviously you decided to go with it! They are great luxo-barges.

On the mileage front, we get 18 mpg with mixed, around-town time, and 25-6 mpg freeway only. This is in our '88 Hartge 735i with a stick, which might have a taller diff - I don't know the ratio's right off-hand.

On the heater issue; there are a couple of styles around - if you posted a pic, I could speculate a bit more. I am familiar with the dual not-quite-climate-control version that ours has, but yours sounds different. In ours the HVAC control panel slips out quite easily - it is latched on the left, and hinged on the right - just pry out the left side carefully and mine pops right out.

Good luck!

Larry,

I have a dial with temps on the right, and the blower control dial on the left (drivers) side. The blower (fan) is stuck on 1 or 2. I haven't pried or anything without first trying to take off the cover. But I haven;t gotten around to it yet, and for sure don't want to ruin the cover. Thanks in advance for all your help!!

Carlos
