Door Locks - 94 740i

My door locks are acting up.

When I use the remote unlock or the key, they seem to open all but the drivers door. All the locks pop-up, the driver seems to try but not work all the way leaving this driver door locked.

I tried spraying WD down the lock - no good.

It does work occasionally but less and less.

Please help.

ahhh yes.

not uncommon for an E32 to exhibit this problem. in fact, my 1992 735i did exactly the same thing a couple years ago.

my guess would be a cracked stepper motor bracket. paste the link below in your browser. a terrific site describing the common failures and issues on the E32 BMW.

if you are mechanically inclined (to get the door panel off) and handy (like McGiver) you can repair the cracked bracket with some epoxy, pop rivets and a small piece of sheetmetal.

I have had no problems since peforming the same repair a couple years ago.
