1987 factory rust prevention?

I am going to look at a 1987 M6 that is for sale in my town. I am new to BMWs and would like to know what rust prevention was used by the factory in 1987. Were they galvanized?

Sweet - I was just thinking that I might want to pick up one of these cars one of these days. Is it red?

I believe that the cars were started to be galvanized in the late 70s / early 80's but I don't have the exact date. I know that Porsche went to galvanization in 1977, and it really shows in the condition of the cars out there.

How much are they asking for the M6?

I checked the M6 out. Neat car. Unfortunately the NJ road salt has taken it's toll on this one. Rust under the doors on the seam, around the tail lights, and at the radiator mount points. Too much rust for me after a quick look.
