help with dyignostic codes
 
I have a 735i 1991se bmw which shows up with fault code e36 witch relates to torque converter lockup clutch can anybody explain what this is many thanks mistro1

Look up torque converters on How Stuff Works and Wikipedia.

It sounds like you can just pull the tranny and replace the torque converter which should be a job similar to a clutch replacement. At least similar in difficulty. It may be possible to have it rebuilt.
