92 735i ignition switch problem

Can someone post the how to on removing the ignition switch. Does this sound like the electrical side? Or is it the mechanical side. The key turns but nothing happens.

Yesterday, after starting the car everything was fine. When I got home. I turned the key to off and the car was still running. I had to pull the fuel pump fuse to stop the engine.
Thanks
Charles

I've seen some DIY articles on ignition switch replacement. You should be able to find them on the web. Don't limit yourself to 7-series though, try BMW, E36, E46 too.
