BMW To Release a Standalone M Car!

Markus Flasch stated:

Standalone M cars are obviously something that my team likes to work on. It wouldn’t be the first time; we did it with the M1 many years ago. We have some very concrete plans for something new.
They never did release a mid-engine version of the i8 so this is some exciting news! Flasch did not comment on whether or not the vehicle will be gas-powered, hybrid or electric. The best you can get currently is the M8 Competition. Flasch says M doesn't need a halo car, but it would still be great to see a real successor to the iconic M1.
