Cost for a replacement key?

I just bought a 1992 BMW 325i (E36), and it only came with one key. I can tell it's not even the original key, on account that it says "Ilco" on the key, but it starts the car, so whatever. Now, I'd like to get a spare, but I know they're laser cut keys, so how much can I expect to pay? And also, I can only have this done at a BMW dealership, right? Also, it doesn't have keyless entry.

I just checked with my friend at the local BMW dealership, here's his reply

BMW's MSRP is $38.01. Don't know if everyone charges that. (Keys are a pain in the ...) In order to order it to code he will have to go to his local dealer with proof of ownership of the car that they must copy and retain. BMW has a strict policy about proof of ownership, as well in California there is a section of the penal code that addresses it. Our company has a policy as well. Usually takes about 2 days. If the key says ILCO on it, it's from a locksmith. If I were him, I'd have at least one factory key.

Hope that helps.

As you may already be aware, these keys cannot be cut from a shop, it must always be ordered from dealer (called dealer items). The keys, when new must be programed to the car anthitheft system (it cannot start car immediately without programming, as the car wont recognise it) to make it functional, additionally, the remote control aspect must also be adapted to the car central convinience system, if applicable.
