HP2 Sport: An Owners Thoughts

Thats good to hear! Since you are keeping it do you have any thoughts/reservations or advice for a potential owner? I found out today from BMW NA that the LE will not be coming to the USA sadly, so I'm now thinking of getting a used HP2 and repainting it in LE replica colors as I love the way it looks.

Funnily enough the sweetest bike to ride I ever owned was a heavily breathed on 900SL with 92rwhp and a Corbin seat - and the Corbin seat really made the bike! :-) I rode that thing from LA to Laguna and all through the Sierras a few times, it was the most enjoyable road bike I've owned to date.

HP2 Sport: An Owners Thoughts

Many biker Buds ask about the HP2S and just how it feels. On some websites, owners are criticized as being elitists, posers and many other tags. The bike is maligned as being low on hp as compared to liter bikes that are water-wagons(duh!) and overly expensive at the 25k USD price (You can't get a stripped Harley for that price). I had a friend that had "no skin in the game" test ride the HP2S last weekend and here is what he had to say.

That is one light bike for sure. The older I get, the more I like light bikes.

At the same time the bike felt very light, it felt like it was welded to the road. So very easy to ride and excellent turn-in. Of course all the power, and then some, that anyone would need is there in spades. The brakes are fantastic. When I got back on my little two-valve monster I was wondering what happened to my brakes

As I neared the bottom of the mountain I was trying to remember if I had ever ridden a better handling, better balanced motorcycle. I have not. I also was thinking this bike is comfortable. I could tour on that bike, not that that is what it is for, but still it is a very comfortable motorcycle.

If I were wealthy and had a bigger garage, I would own one for sure. Fantastic motorcycle. Thanks for the experience Bubba.
I hope HP2S owners and those who have actually ridden the bike will post their impressions here. I post mine later.

Opps, somehow I hit the start thread button rather that posting it as a reply to you keeping yours! Still be very happy to hear your thoughts. I've found a couple of dedicated HP2 threads on other boards in Europe, and everyone who has taken the time to post on them seems pretty happy with their bikes.

I have yet to see any HP2S owner post a negative on this bike. Jeff Williams had an ECU problem that I feel was dealer induced. All I have done is ride the dog out of my bike on the twisties and at the track. If the money is a problem, pass it up and by a Blade or some other rice-burner. I think that for all the cf and cnc you get, the price is fair. The only other option I'd like to have seen on the bike is a slipper clutch. That would have really put it over the final hurtle.
