S1000rr gearbox trouble!!!
My maiden ride on the new bike didn't go as planned!
The bike is great and apart from what everybody else has said, the only thing i miss is the little "poff" when you use the QS, that the HP2 does. I rode about 20k's before i had trouble getting in third gear. I turned the ignition off and on, and it worked fine for another 5k's. Then third gear jammed and I cant get neither 2:nd or 4:th, it's stuck! So My bike is now at the garage with the mechanics scratching their heads. Only 31 km old!

Did you isolate the QS from the shifter to rule QS adjustment out? Just disconnect it and see if there is any change. But again the bike is under warr. so maybe just let the dealership do it if that is not another issue. Good luck. BobL.

Solution!
My mechanic at the BMW Dealer has found the problem. After getting a mail from BMW Germany telling him to check some screws behind the clutch he found the problem, wich had nothing to do with the screws.
The problem was the axel that the linkage from the gear pedal is attached to. ![]() On the axel, on side of the clutch, there is a sort of extender with a spring, holding the extender in the extended position. This extender is supposed to retract and extend over a sort of wheel with spikes. Thus choosing the next gear, up or down shift. ![]() However the spring couldn't hold the extender in the extended position, due to it getting stuck in the position shown in the photo. This is likely due to the weld that seem to have misshaped the material, heat probably. Another likely culprit is grades or scrapes so the extender doesn't slide properly, we could see some evidence of this, but are not sure if it is the cause or result. So problem solved! This problem was aparently not known to BMW Germany, but it will now. I will get a new axel by wednesday or thursday, depending on delivery within sweden or delivery from Germany. Thanx for your attention! /Jonas

Re: S1000rr gearbox trouble!!!
Still haven't gotten the parts due to the volcano activity in Iceland. Hopefully they'll come next week.
