Mini Cooper S Modifications

Hello,

I'm a regular poster over in the 911 forum but recently my mother has put on order a Mini Cooper S with all the goodies (LSD, Sport Suspension, etc.) She opted not to go for the Works package but in turn have myself and my father modify it to get similar power at a fraction of the $8,000 the you have to fork over for the Works. My question is are there any quality manufacturers or parts that are available fro the Cooper S? I see a lot of different parts but I don't know if there is a standard quality manufacturer to look for. Also of the exhausts available which has the best sound to it? (remember this is for my mother, she likes a growl but a roar would be too much for her) Anyway, Thanks in advance.

In my humble opinion, you can't beat the bmw price for the John Cooper package. Its $6000 and you would have to spend more than $10k in aftermarket dollars to match it. And its still not tested to actually work, like the John Cooper package is. Sometimes you just got to go with the flow.

Those mini S versions are a good value. Really kick butt for a fraction of the cost of a "real" car, like a 911 turbo. Cornering is probably even better.

To name a few Alta, Helix, and Webb Motorsports have good products. outmotoring.com is an excellent vendor.

You'll get hte biggest bang for the buck with a smaller SC pulley, and a rear sway bar. You can go with a crank pulley as well for more boost with fewer belt problems.

A strut tower bar is a good idea because there have been some reports of strut tower mushrooming, and the bar plates should help. The 06 hoodliner is thicker than the 02-04s, so make sure you get a 06-fit bar.

Exhaust is subjective, but a friend of mine put in a Milltek header and exhaust and has been very happy with it. He has a JCW kit and replaced the JCW exhaust. More ehxuast info can be found here:
