Couple questions

I am looking at buying an 03 MCS w/ 24K miles on it. I was wondering what are the common issues with these cars and what I should have looked at before I buy the car. I know in the Porsche world, what I'm familiar with, PPIs are very heavily stressed. Is there a big need for on with one of these?

Thanks in advance...

The car is still under warranty so no problem there.

There is a problem with the motor stumbling at idle this has been fixed and its as simple as visiting the dealership for a software upgrade.

There was a problem with the windshelds cracking in the 02-03 model line. One guy cracked 3 windshields he added a front strut brace and never had another problem. I never had this problem with my '03 and I tracked it and autocrossed it.

Other than that nothing else comes to mind. Good luck, they are fun cars.

Watch for rust in the door jam:

http://www.northamericanmotoring.com/forums/showthread.php?t=69139&highlight=rust

We traded an 04 with 30k miles for an 06 a few months ago and the 04 was basicly trouble-free the entire time. There have been a few quirks that have been fixed under warranty such as failed coolant resevoirs. I believe the original parts are white and the improved part is more of a yellow. If you've got a white one it will probably fail sooner or later.

Garage
Ours still stumbles at idle ad it has had the upgrade. It also hesitates, which drives me nuts. A test drive should tell you if this car has either of these problems...

Cheers,

Paul.
