Wilbers

I am going to put a set of Wilbers on my 2004 R1100s prep. Does anyone have pictures of the rear installed. With the canister attached and without. I would rather have it all one piece if it will fit on the bike.

Let me know what model and if you are happy with the shock.

Thanks.

I have a 643 series shock (643-0418-00). The canister was removed before I got the shock, but I doubt there would have been any interference. The reservoir is in line with the shock body.

I love the shock.

Wilberís install

Love my Wilberís. I ordered 630 front 640 rear w/hydraulic preload based on my riding style and recommendations from Ted Porter at the Beemershop. I had already Removed evap cannister and I have the factory bag mounts. Went with the Blacklines as I thought the blue springs may be a bit much on a yellow bike. Good luck.

Really like my Wilberss..

Side view installed, it's not obvious but I had to trim my body work to put it there...

View from rear, view 90 deg CCW...

Closeup of the side view...

Preload adjuster on passenger side, sorry about the orientation, can't figure out how to turn them...

Thank you.

I want to thank all of you for taking the time to send pictures. I am going to place my order this week with Ted Porter.

It always good for me to get feedback on something I am going to do.

My canister is gone.

Square4man, did you make the bracket to attach the preload adjuster on the saddlebags mount points, or is it an available option from Ted Porter? If you made it, I would like to talk with you about it. It is very clean.

Thanks again to all.

I have read many of the things you have posted over time. I have been a member since 2011. You always try to be helpful and look for nothing in return.

Keep it up. It is a great quality.

I spoke to Ted Porter today. I have Works Performance shocks on the bike now. I have put 48,000 miles on them. The bike is lowered 1in. When I bought the bike in 2011 with 5,000 miles on it from a dealer in Colorado who installed the shocks, I asked him to put the stock shocks back on at the standard height. He told me to ride it home to New Jersey and if I didn't like them I could change them then. I love the lowered suspension and never put it back to stock height. I am getting the same from Ted Porter.

I am going to send the shocks to him so he can take his needed measurements. We talked about many different things including leverage ratios. If he has the Works shocks in his hand he can see exactly what I have now and give me any advice for improvement before building me a new pair of shocks. What a great suspension resource.

Thank you to all for your input. After talking with Ted for 30min. I can see why people say such positive things about him.

Rob.

E-mails tell me that I should get the Wilbers for my '03 BCR from Ted today. I ordered them both with manual preload adjustment because I won't be loading the bike with anything but me and a small tankbag. The rear will have remote damping adjustment that I'll have to mount of the frame somehow. Shouldn't be a problem.
