BMW Roundel 4th gear?

Slight oscillating vibration in 4th gear between 40 and 60 mph, itís not my new Metzlerís, wheels are balanced. Am I shopping for a transmission soon? Ď03 R1100s with slightly over 23,xxx miles. Extremely well maintained, Iíve owned it since the odometer read 2100 miles.
btw, if I was merely a highway warrior, this wouldnít be much of an issue. But Iím more of a ďtwisty negotiatorĒ and gears 3-4 are my go too cogs.

Only ever had two issues sounding like the above the first was trying to running a 318mm Supersport shock with a stock front and the second was not balancing the TB’s as in every time I ride it,although in recent years with a Twinmax I can get it down too every other ride or not bother and put up with the resonance/Oscillation.

I have not experienced this first hand, but I have heard that assembling the crankshaft out of phase can cause a vibration like that. Has your final drive been been removed and reinstalled recently?

Both my S bikes did that. Sort of a "thrummm, thrummm, thrummm" feeling / noise . None of my other oilheads have that feature.

Final drive has never been taken apart, when I bought the 11s in Ď06 it still had the original air in the tires.

Did you figure out what the vibration was from. I can say that itís not an audible , but I can feel it . I did install a set of Wilberís on both front and rear couple years ago. Didnít notice it initially, may be I should have the sag & rebound rechecked.

Then itís probably not the driveshaft phasing.

I asked here and was told some version of "they all do that." I never worried about it after that.

Did you mean, "How does it behave at 30mph in 4th?" or, "Why the heck are you driving at 30mph in 4th?"
OP said between 40 and 60mph, which is in a healthy rpm range for 4th gear.

OP edited the post. Possibly changed the numbers judging from the reply.
