Angled Valve Stems for the R1100S?
I pulled my wheels off and brought them to a local dealer (non-BMW) to have new tires installed. I asked them to install angled valve stems and they installed press fit rubber ones. I should have been more specific that I wanted metal ones that screw in. Not only do these look wonky, but the one on the front tire hits the left caliper.
Does anyone know if BMW makes angled valve stems for the R1100S? ![]()

valve stems
kurveygirl.com / motorcycle stuff not porn
They sell a valve for the BMW but some of the centre rib on the rim needs to be relieved to fit. |

Thanks Grocery. I see...that ridge in the center causes the problem. I'm taking the wheels back to the dealer to have the straight ones put on. Lesson learned.

Been down this road on my present project bike (R1150sR)...the cheap aluminum right angle ones, like kurvy girl sells, do not fit our stock rims, I was able to tweak the flashing (the ridge or centre rib?) on the wheels and the valve stems (some grinding) to work and touched up with fingernail polish, some grinding on the valve stem edges too, but the front just never quite got there, so I put in a straight one like shown above...
![]() I'm not saying you can't get it to work (believe I could) but it will VERY likely require more filing and grinding to get there and you need access to the inside of the rim to mount it (it has a nut on the inside), best of luck...here's what the front one looked like before I gave up and pulled it, this one had a slow leak that ran down over a couple of days, so I was close... ![]() The rear one is still on and holding air after months...

Why couldn't you rotate it slightly to prevent it from contacting the caliper?

Fitted to my wheels over 60k miles ago with countless extended 100mph+ cruising sorties across the US. Absolutely no issues whatsoever - fit or otherwise.

Due diligent research inevitably led me to: They're not the Chinese (if that is what kurveygirl are) knock offs. These are TUV approved which needn't require chatter referencing suitability. They are 8.3mm, however, bear in mind as was mentioned above (BTTD) a very minimal amount of clearancing (I used the edge of an flat metal file) was needed on the rib of the rims center section though not enough to require more than a minute of effort. I should have been more concise in stating 'no fitment issue' - but it is so minor that if one is capable of trimming their fingernails - well, this is easier. I suppose other factors i.e. powder paint thickness, manufacturing tolerances, accuracy of the knock-off's dimensions are all plausible fitment impediments. My experience with the product is as stated. Yours may vary. This particular seller offers them in both sizes. I also fitted the 11.3mm to my VFR1200F with an equally pleasing result. ![]() They're worthy of my full endorsement....and I'm as OCD as exists. J.S. |

These do look better than my Chinese knockoffs, which also required some filing of their edges to seat properly (rear works but need more work for front)...

The Kurveygirl web site says their Bridgeport , used by Ducati sold under the Ariete brand name, valve stems are made in Italy.
