I bought my 1100s secondhand from a friend who went I pointed out he was building Ducati’s for Troy Baylis in our BSB championship and riding to a meeting on a BM wasn’t the brightest thing to do so I got it.
Just made a brief list of what got changed. Dymags Ohlins (Rear) PFM Full Floating front brakes HID light Carbon panels Lennie Induct SJ Filter Jump start kit Custom full exhaust system Verholen paralever Wunderlich seat High BM bars Oil Cooler grills 1200 Injectors Power Commander 25l tank Hole in the filler neck After market foot pegs Ventura rack Carbon Rocker covers Carbon rocker cover to replace the alloy ones but I broke one... Ilmberger front mudguard and rear hugger Bagster tank cover Lithium battery Rear bevel to change the gearing Apart from that it’s stock ![]() Here’s to the next 20 ![]()

Chris :
I'm interested in your experience with the Ventura Rack system. In order to install the needed basic L-Bracket , do the turn signal pods have to be repositioned, or can they be left where they are originally. ![]()

My story is not as good as your Chris, but I've had mine 15 years. I saw it in a magazine....I think BMW moa, I said to myself, I've got to have that bike. I never do that. Lol. Still very much love the bike...although I don't ride it much anymore...spent most of my down off road.

Re the Ventura answer is no and what I'd forgotten on the list is rear indicators
![]() What the hell they are made of I've no idea and as we do not do panniers period some of the bags we have had strapped on that rack I've no idea how it has never broken.

Over the years I have had a love/hate relationship with it and that is an understatement but now its very much a backup bike and gets used when its at its best with good fuel and cold weather. Having the SJ filter and Lennies the black hole in the stock fuelling was a wonder until we got the PC in 06 a year after you guys which transformed it. Best story has to be the rear bevel!!!! I spent years trying to work out a solution the way the motor ran it just cried out for a better ratio to give it longer legs. Curve on here had an option but was way to expensive and I found a guy in Uk who could fit a cruiser 1200 internals(assuming I could find any) into an 1100s case,in the mean time I accost Bertie Hauser at a WSB meeting and ask him after he got over the shock and amusement gave me the business card of the folks who made them but I drew a blank. Years past and I have a light bulb moment!! what did the Boxercup guys run at Daytona?? I find out BMW made 30 units Gus who used to post on here and has done some racing in Germany tracks a man down who has one for 230 Euros ![]()

Just checked the exchange rate I paid $8,100 when it was 16 months old, sold the panniers within weeks for $300 and the only other thing I have sold is the stock rear shock everything else is in the loft....
No ABS or heated grips I fitted those a few years ago at telephone number cost for original parts.

Funny you should say that with 38,000 miles still original and no movement.

Aw, my 20th anniversary is TODAY! I brought her home on Saturday, January 8, 2000. Something made me want to check in on this site. Now I know why.
I still have my old 'S. She'll be the last bike to go. Geez, in five years, she's eligible for antique plates in Texas. -Jeff P.S., Today is also Elvis' birthday

Chris,
Long time, no speak. Other than the Staintune exhaust and aftermarket seat, my black 'S appears stock. It would take someone who recalls the details of the early models to see the changes I've made to mine. She arrived as a non-ABS model with the clip-ons below the triple clamp. Over the years, I added heated grips along with the Euro right side controls with the headlight switch. At the same time, I converted from the low to factory high bars. I added a peg lowering kit when I started touring with her all over North America. Beyond that, it has been maintenance items such as steel braided brake lines. Even with 76,000 miles, she still looks great. I have a new in box OEM wind screen and carbon front mudguard for when those items need replacement. Of course, I kept all the original take off parts. She still gets ridden regularly although she is retired from long distance touring. She handed that baton to a R1200RS. -Jeff

Funny you should say such things in your post
![]() Guess the pinnacle of use was around 2006 we had arranged to ride to Monza to spectate at a WSB round rode 200 odd miles too the ferry to France on our 955 Tiger and the plastic fuel connector failed, break down service supply a car we drive back 200 mile home having taken the luggage of the bike, arrive home 11.30 pm load the 1100s never even checked tyre pressure or oil. Back up at 3.30am re-ride the same 200 miles for the 3rd time jump on the ferry meet friends who have waited in a hotel in France and then ride another 600 miles into mid Switzerland and the following day over the Alps to Monza phew. My only real complaint the bike has never liked warm weather and with a bike list almost as long as yours their isn’t any need to make it suffer such anymore. Oh and on the way home from Monza broke the bolt at the bottom of the rear Ohlins and I had to hold what was left in with elastic bands, when I phoned the importer up sent me another free and it has never done it again.

When it comes to genuine parts and things like aftermarket clutch slave cylinders it’s still pretty straight forward, but when it comes to after market goodies to pep the bike up which I have never known another bike respond so well too, most parts have all but vanished some years back which is a great shame because I wouldn’t inflict a bog stock 1100s on anyone......

Hi,
Mine is 20 in March, and as I mentioned in another thread I've given it over to a contributer to Classic Motorcycle Mechanic (https://www.classicmechanics.com/) which are running a feature on the strip/rebuild. He has completed taking the bike to bits, and we've powered coated the tits off everything that had life left in it (and some bits that had no life left) The gear box and rear bevel were rebuilt by these nice blokes https://www.sinrojamotorcycles.co.uk/ as they had the tooling for it. Maxton rebuilt the suspension and a nice bloke from Glastonbury polished the **** out of the Staintune. Just waiting for space in the mans garage to start screwing stuff togethor. So I've upcycled my 160K miles R11S. Adrian. PS I bought a donor bike to scavange parts from £1500 for 5000 mile year 2000. PPS Yes I know it doesn't mnake economic sense, but with seven billion of us on the planet we can't all have new stuff. PPPS other thread What do you buy a 20 year old for their birthday? The bike stalled out and hasn't started back since. I bought a new battery and plugs I'm getting spark and fuel seems to be spraying well through the injectors I checked all my fuses ..i think i found then all,, also i can roll the bike down hill and jump start it and get to start up but it stalls if I'm not giving it throttle!!!!!
