Instrument Light Burn Out
The light on the top 1/2 of my tach burned out over the weekend. I have a 2001 S - does anyone know if this is covered under warrenty? If not, any thoughts on how to replace the bulb?
Thx, T

Replaced the top speedo bulb and the hi-beam indicator bulb 2 weekends ago. I wasn't able to find a quick way to reach up underneath and get to the back side of the instrument cluster, so I did it the long way. May be a better way, but here is what I did.
Remove seat, remove left and right body side panels, remove mirrors, remove wind screen, remove bolts holding headlight assembly in place. With that, the headlight assembly can be moved forward and down a little. It is still teathered by a wiring harness, but provides adequate room to remove the protective cowling that covers the back side of the instrument cluster. Now the back side of the instruments are exposed and the bulbs can be replaced. On reassembly, some of the bolts had blue loctite on them. May want to clean it off and replace it with fresh stuff and use caution about over torquing any of them, especially the ones on the windscreen. The protective cowling for the insturment cluster is held in place by two side bolts and, if memory serves me, three of the windscreen bolts. There is also some adjustment that can be done to the cowling during the installation to minimize the gap between the spot where the cowling meets the top of the instrument cluster. Good luck.
