Replacing Clutch Slave Cylinder...
Should I be able to maneuver the clutch slave cylinder out without taking off the rear frame? I have the swingarm out and good access back there, but after a little wiggling & twisting last night, I wasn't able to get the slave out past the large round brace behind it (the one that's part of the rear frame).

I've done it before with the swingarm and frame in place, so it's possible.

Whoops, you're right! Take off the hoses, twist and wiggle. Piece of (oily, messy) cake.
Now I wonder why the manual says to detach the rear frame. That's a lot of extra work for a job like this. |

The Teutonic Lord giveth, and the Teutonic Lord taketh away.
The old cast-style clutch slave can be wiggled out without moving the rear frame, but the new, shiny, CNC-milling-marked clutch slave is so precisely manufactured that ... if you have to put one in, you're gonna be taking off the rear frame. Hope you added that into your estimate for the job! |
