Banjo Bolt thread size?
Folks
Searched some of the posts but didn't find the thread size of the banjo bolt for the front brake master cylinder. Is it 10 x 1.25 or 10 x 1.0? In the midst of getting SS brake lines to replace the originals on my 2005 BCR. I'm changing to a twin line set up from the master cylinder down to the calipers. Also moving the bars on top of the clamp and possibly adding bar backs. Already tried to move the bars up but just not enough hose on the front brake side to reach. Looks like I'm going to be ordering custom length to fit so hence my question. Thanks... Last edited by duegi; 11-24-2020 at 05:23 AM.. |

I bought Spiegler brake lines. Single line in the front to the distribution block. Moving the mount for the bars on top makes a tremendous difference, you'll probably not want the risers, my opinion. The double line is sold by Galfer, I don't think it's the best way to go. If I recall Spiegler offers the Bango bolt kit as an option for replacement of the factory, I didn't get them however.

If you got the Galfer set up it would of included new banjo bolts & washers. Personally I prefer the 2 line set up, easier to bleed & less places to leak.

Thanks for the input chaps.
Due to the age of the moto (2005) and still sporting the original brake lines I ordered a twin line set up from Spiegler yesterday. I've always replaced my brake lines every 5-7 years just to be preventative. I also change out the brake fluid every other year. I thought about the twin line VS factory set up and prefer the twin line for ease of bleeding and fewer connecting points thus lessening the chances for leaks. I'm going to do the same on the rear and run the replacement brake line directly from master cylinder to the caliper. A bonus was talking to Spiegler in the morning and then having the custom lines set out later that day. Last edited by duegi; 11-25-2020 at 11:20 AM.. |
