DIY Muffler?
Given that aftermarket exhausts for the R1100S are unobtainium at this point, has anyone tried to weld up their own? I don't mean bafflecktomy. Seems like it wouldn't be super challenging to find two suitable cans and weld them up with some sort of Y pipe.

Can you tig weld? I'm sure it can be done. I am considering the same using a set from possibly a Ducati, lots of used ones around. Only trick will likely be finding some tube and some elbows in the right diameter.

cans
I took off some no name after market exhaust pipes from my new to me R1100S after getting it, because I like quiet. I got barely used stock mufflers from Bob's BMW, no doubt because somebody went aftermarket. They have no rust. Look like aluminum to me and are way lighter than the BMW stock. The baffles are expanded metal and one is flopping around loose inside. Anybody who is in NorCal Sierras and wants to meet can have them. I will be going between Plumas county and Truckee to ski frequently and don't want to get into shipping as I always get screwed by "estimates"

Those are shortened, gutted cans that need custom fitting. Can you say LOUD & total pia to fit.
