Clutch housing cover and pressure plate taper
On new parts are the working surfaces flat or are they machined with a slight taper?

I will try a pic, under the steel ruler on the left is a 1 deg block on the surface of the housing cover, lines up pretty well. On the right can see the gap between the rule and the pressure plate. I'm thinking these are machined this way but can anybody confirm?
