Hi there. New forum member here...from Asheville. Yes, we had Rudolph recently, yippee.
![]() If a R1100SA does not currently have brackets for the hard bags, and I wish to put them on, do I need special rear bodywork to fit them? The upper forward attachment point seems to delve into the bodywork somewhere in all the pictures I saw...I can't get a clear view of the area. Thanks for all replies.

Welcome Joe. Been in Asheville long? I grew up in the area, just the other side of Old Fort and have several friends in the Asheville area. Attaching the bag mounts is a very simple operation and as Justanothersquid said, does not require any special body work. I'll see you on the parkway sometime. Frost Blue 01 R11S.

The brackets consist of four pieces. Two that mount on the back under the seat. There are four bolts that hold them on. There are two addional pieces that are used to stablize the bags that attach under each passenger foot peg. It will probably take you 20 minutes to put everything together and attach it before you are ready to ride off with BMW system cases attached. The only real issue is the cost. Once you get over that you are all set. Once the brackets are in place they act as nice hand holds for your passenger (you know that really hot blond that was scanning your bike thinking how nice the subtle vibration of the twin motor will feel between her legs.)
Good luck.

Bags
I just put on my brackets this morning. Took me about an 1hr. Take off the Charcoal canister. Makes it a little easier to get the bolts in the lower attackment point. Also the bolt that is under the seat is a little tough to get on. You have to tweek the bracket a little to get the Nut on. I used a handy little clamp to pull the bracket up tight to get the nut started. I left the rear foot rests off and attached the lower brackets with the foot rest bolts. No problems.
On the left side of the bike, take off the small heat shield and dont relpace it when you put on the bracket. If you order the brackets you get a booklet to show install instructions. T
