2004 Boxer Cup Side Case Upgrade
I am in the process of refinishing side case lids to match the blue on the 2004 BCR. Have the following questions:
- What is the factory color code for the BCR blue? - What is the best approach to matching the white squares on the BCR fairings? Application of the squares to the case lids would be a nice touch and tie in with the overall BCR appearance. |

The blue color on the 2004 BCR is Pacific Blue. Can anyone confirm that pazifikblau 441 is the correct color blue?

I bought pacific blue 744 from Scratches Happen for my 04 BCR and it matched nearly perfectly.
Google AI gave “BMW paint color code 744 is Pacific Blue Metallic. It's also sometimes listed as Pazifikblau II”. Not that I totally trust that source. I can dig deeper tomorrow.

John, thanks for that info. I did see the Pacific Blue II the color spectrum.
From what I was able to find the color codes are on a label located somewhere under the seat. Will look for it today. Shop will try to do color match/spray outs to match the rear seat cowl. Decided to KISS the project by not dealing with the application of the white checkers. Last edited by Tirefriar; 06-12-2025 at 05:11 AM.. |

The color code is 916 which is the combination of Pacific Blue and Alpine White. Pacific Blue code is 441 and Pacific Blue 2 is 744. Some companies offering touch up kits group both codes into a single product application. I dropped off the rear seat cowl with the painter who is certain he can nail down the color based on everything I provided. Both colors are in his computer system but appear to have different formulas. Will post photos of refinished lids
My next question is on the roundels that are affixed to the lids. I’d like to get the M 50 year rounded but having trouble finding the size that would fit. Will measure the take offs. Last edited by Tirefriar; 06-12-2025 at 07:44 AM.. |

The lids are done. Came out very nicely. Color match looks spot on, at least under the room lighting. Will be replacing the lock mechanism on one ofthe cases before riveting the lids to the case backs.

Thanks everyone! They are slated for color sand and buff tomorrow. If all goes well, the latch will be replaced and cases assembled by Thursday. I'll be working on sourcing roundels for the recessed locations on the lids but decided against the reflectors.

Killer job, as mines black I never had the urge to paint them but I'm lazy like that anyway. Pics when you get them mounted.

Thank you. All I did was drill out the rivets and remove the roundels & reflectors. Paint was professionally done. I’m debating of applying the white squares to match the pillion cover or just leave as is. Applying the squares may open a door to a screw up. Will post photos when completed and once mounted on the BCR.

Replaced the latch on one of the cases without destroying/wasting any rivets
Lids have been polished and riveted into place. Will install mounting hardware on the BCR over the weekend and should have pics of the cases mounted onto #245. Will take another dtsb at finding the 50th anniversary roundels that will fit the recessed area. This should put a nice finishing touch on this project. ![]() ![]() Last edited by Tirefriar; 07-03-2025 at 10:15 AM.. |

Heavy lifting is done. The broken latch on one of the cases replaced, lids prepped, painted, polished and installed. Mounting hardware installed. Threw on a set of passenger pegs just in cases the wifey decides to join me on the next trip along the coast.
Special thank you to Jozef who kept me in the loop after advertising the cases. I jumped on the opportunity immediately after the buyer ahead of me backed out. Jozef was very kind to arrange for the drop of the cases. I'm back to the idea of adding squares to the lids to match the BCR theme. Perhaps 4 squares to match the tank. The cases are the first leg of the BCR upgrade. On the list are the Dymag wheels and Ohlins suspension. Everything has been procured. The Ohlins are headed to Doug Brenner for rebuild and should have the Dymags on soon as well. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Last edited by Tirefriar; 07-05-2025 at 07:00 PM.. |

I haven't had my bags on for a long time, but I remember bumping into all kinds of things because they were so wide. My '99 RS had the cases much more tucked in. Having a GS with the Vario cases works better so the S is mostly a twisty road strafer.
Oh, looks really nice, I don't know if I would checker them or not, tough call. I've seen pics of them painted as yours with the checkering on here before & it looked good also. Search around & maybe you can find the pics to help in your decision. |

Regarding the roundels, this is the diameter of the originals that came with the cases.
![]() I'm looking for this style ![]() Any ideas and suggestions are welcome, diameter being the only constraint. |

Country lids to me is more preferable than city lids due to the volume they carry. Since the cases are removable I can easily enjoy the spirited riding through the canyons (even so with the cases on) but don't get to the corner speeds where I have to drag knee on the street roads.
