fast Idle doesn't
 
Its starting to get a bit nippy in the morning now and I've noticed the fast idle switch doesnt work very well on my 2K2 S sport. i.e. at the "set position it makes no difference to the revs and if held up above that it moves the revs up just a bit.
I am currently printing off the manual and the bike is due at the dealers on mon for thefitting of hard luggage, it has a years warranty left on it but if its just a case of adjusting a cable I'd rather do it myself

Btw Ive been lurking for a week or so and I'm a bit confusticated by the acronyms for the bikes I can work out BCR -boxer cup replica- but whats a prep?

Any help apreciated:)

Check that the cable has'nt come out of the housing.This can happen when the inner cable has become dry,thus pulling the outer when the lever is pushed.To be honest i never use my fast idle as the bike starts fine with out it.

My one hasn't worked for the last three years. I might fix it for this winter, then again, I might not.

Mine works fine increasing rpm by about 200 from 1100 to 1300

The Boxer Cup Prep is similar to the Replica in that it has the sport suspension, lower clipons, lower windshield, steering damper, 5.5" rear wheel, shorter Paralever torque arm, etc.

It does not have ABS, servo-assist brakes, nor does it come with heated grips or a centerstand (due to the longer suspension and shorter torque arm increasing ride height). No belly pan or autographs either.

MSRP is $11,990 - and with the addition of heated grips, becomes The Perfect Bike :D

Why are you having the dealer fit the system cases? It doesn't take long, and is pretty straightforward.

Just pull the rubber boot back under the LH control and adjust the cable. It's that easy!
Most are incorrectly set and dealers fail to check while doing the PDI (Ripp off aka additional revenue grab)

Oh, its all to do with my local dealer (3miles) being cr*p ( and much more expensive) and the one I bought the bike from and that has been recomended by several friends is 50 miles away

Not Having a car ( well the wife has the car for work) its easier to have the bags fitted in Nottingham than try and carry them back to Birmingham on the bike ;) and they key them to the ignition for only £10 more than I can get them mail order

On my choke cable I've had a problem for the past 2 or so years with the curved tube that houses the cable and seats it into the left hand grip. Sometimes the whole cable inside the metal tube becomes disconnected with the hand grip and then I have to re-seat it to regain functionality.
.
I need to find some good glue to secure the metal tube guiding the fast idle cable back onto the fast idle lever. I can't be the only one with this problem.

ditto here - mine comes out about every third or fourth time, but I've just got into the habit of checking it. Just more of the famous BMW "character" I guess.

Fast idle cable adjustment.
 
Mine never comes out and gives me correct fast idle. It only requires about 2 minutes to adjust and you can then forget it for about a year or so.

1. Warm the bike up with a nice 30 or so mile ride.
2. Peel back the rubbrer boot under the left grip and adjust the cable length.

Settings that work for me are
2800 RPM with engine warm and fast held against spring.
1500 RPM with engine warm and fast resting on its detent.

Play in throttle cables with fast all the way in.

My lever works, I'd just like to increase the RPM's some and have never actually done it. Easy, right?

CCW will increase RPM
CW will decrease RPM

idle update
 
Had the idle adjusted at the dealer and its fine now. they added the hard luggage ,an Art Carbon hugger and a fender extender for the front.
I'm off to the Isle of Man for 4 days now with the bike group :)
should be fun.
The only thing thats wiped the grin from my face was loosing the rear cowl which had a broken locating tag on it and the dealer was due to replace, it was there when I started a ride and not there afterwards:(
the dealer has said "dont worry we'll still replace it" that put the smile back :)

Oh btw this prep thing has me intriged as my bike has all the things mentioned by Blakebird but HAS the heated grips
