Unhappy Motronic replacement

Anyone out there ever have to replace their computer?Mine was giving poor acceleration, rough running in upper RPM's.Fuel mileage was OK though...we swapped it with another 1100S's that was in for service for unrelated work and mine took off.It ran upper rev range like starving for fuel,T/B's perfect synch, fuel filter new. Problem would come and go every few minutes...61,000miles

Cool

I got an idea. We waste so much time trying to outguess the Motronic and this chip and that chip and this sensor and that O2 sensor and this regulator and pinging. Did anybody think of yanking the TBs and just sticking 2 Mikuni HSR42s and being done with all this bullsh it? I mean if I was up against an expensive Motronic swap, I'd seriously consider 2 Mikunis at $250 a piece new.

Nice dream and all about putting carbs on the bike but, the Motronic does more than control fuel.

The ECU (engine control unit, aka Motronic) controls spark as well as fuel. Try to retro fit points and stuff!!

Rough running in upper RPM's is what caused me to become concerned with what was happening with my bike, fuel mileage came up and confirmned that the problem was there all along with the ECU.

Lets not confuse things here! Poor mileage, rough running, and pinging can be caused by other things, like lack of maintenance or crappy gas.

As for price. pdonnel was wrong! He some how didn't get the 50 part. It is $750.00and it comes with a 1 year warrenty! Yea baby!

If anyone finds a good source on used ECUs let me know.

$1 for the Motronic, $749 for the warranty.

Raven:
I was thinking of a hybrid system leaving the ECU in place to control timing. Yeah I know what you're gonna say...the ECU needs to know throtle position to change timing. Maybe this would be a easy add-on to a Mikuni. After all some Kawasaki carbs come with a throtle position sensor.

Old school is good

All this Motronic stuff is very complicated for as primitive as it is.
