Custom Chip Setup
 

Ok, here's my deal. I've got all the goodies, K&N, CF induct, TB Cat Eliminator and Titanium Cans, but Bob from Tucson doesn't think it should go as slow as it does and recommended that I get it chipped. The only problem is that there's no chip for my particular configuration. What are my options? Is there anyone in the SW that does this kind of specialty work? What am i looking at spending?

my $.02, loose the TB Cat Eliminator and Ti Cans. Put an exhaust system with matching chip if that is what you want. Unless their is something wrong with your bike that doesn't involve after market parts, the exhaust system is the only thing that seems different to most modified bikes on the site.

someone mapped these chips to work in conjunction with the exhaust... there are enough 2bro's out there to justify this investment in time. There's gotta be another way.

The mapping for the TBR and any other single up type pipe with open exhaust system would be very similar.(Laser)......do you have a SJ Power filter or regular K&N replacement is what would make a bigger difference.

Try checking with Eron. He has had great success with the Power Commander.

I'm with Jeff, loose the TB, and get something that was designed to go together. FIM makes a chip to go with an induct and vanderlinde or STune. They have one that goes with that plus a cam sprocket.
I know, but you already spent your wad on a TB that need repacking every time you change your oil. So go with Raven's idea (i mean Eron) and get a PC.
raven may still have a fuel nanny that you could try.

if the tbr is much like the vandelinde, you could use that specific fim chip. or if it's like the staintune, you could use that specific chip. either will be much better than a std chip.

i vote for the laser chip. it really is good and should make you happy. like everyone is saying, a 2-1-2 pipe setup will work with a chip mapped for a system in that configuration.

The laser would obviously be an inferior choice if the system is to have any sort of low restriction intake tract, as the laser is not mapped for it, and the FIM configs have that available. If you're having to buy a new chip, get the one closest, which clearly isn't the Laser. If no induct or superduct, then the laser seems a fine choice.

Go with a Power Commander !!!!!!! :)

i think the laser would do fine in that scenario. that being said, i intend to dyno the bike as is, with the laser setup, stock intake and filter just see statics conditions and the do some testing same day with intake and/or filter.

A chip should work fine if it is mapped to work with an exhaust that is similar, two into one or two into two collector. They all run the same stock header pipes... As someone mentioned earlier whether you run the stock size K&N or the SJBMW power filter will make a difference and of course the chip should be meant to be used with a duct. Any chip can only work well if it is used with the setup it was mapped for, so make sure that you get this part right for best results.

If you are planning other mods. later then the PC3 would make sense but if not then a chip would would be a good option also. I dought if anyone has mapped a PC3 for that combo yet so you would have to put in the dyno time to get it right where as a chip is most likely available for "plug&play".

Like I said before go with the power Commander, if you add things to the bike you won't have to change the chip again!!!

since shannonnunley has tested his bike against other 'S', I wonder if their might be something that is inhibiting the performance of his current set up that doesn't involve aftermarket parts.

Before anyone can give you an intelligent answerer you have to tell us what you have done to your bike........like what intake and filter ?? or you can cover all bases and buy the power commander and a lot of dyno time at a cost much higher then a chip thats closely matched.
