Newbie question - Lighting

Should the brake light glow when the other lights are on ? ie as "running lights ?

I noticed that the brake light bulb is dual filament. Well, only one filament lights-up (when the brakes are applied).

I believe that the bulb is installed properly.

Thanks in advance.

andrew when you turn your key to park does the tail light come on? do you have a red light that stays on the dash board?try a new bulb.red light staying on after self test indicates tail light failure

SA,
When I turn the key to Park I have NO lights anywhere (tail/licence/dash..) Nothing turns on.

Also, I just noticed that the running light at the headlight does not work either. WTF

I checked the ignition switch to see if there are any loose leads there...It look fine.

Joe,
The bike is actually all together. I had an opportunity to ride it a couple of weeks ago just before we got 30" of snow ! I'm just down to some small odds and ends to finish-up before it's 100 % again. I'm sure that these last details will take me through to April to figure-out.

The fuses, ignition connections, and bulbs all seem to check-out. I'll strip the bike down tomorrow and check for bad wires.

It is entierly possible that I have some bad relays. They all look prety good though - other than the large "Indicator Damping" #4 relay, which got crushed but still looks whole (what is that for anyway ?).

SA - I picked-up some bulbs from AutoZone. Is it possible that I got the wrong bulbs ?
The counter guys were not much help. Neither of them work as they should (the bulbs, not the counter guys)..ie only one filiment working.

I got nothin in "P" from either the the headlight/parking light or the tail light, or any lights for that matter. When the key is turned to "R" (run?) I get the head lights, licence plate lights. All turn signals/flashers/high beams/motolights... work.

Do I have more than one problem here ?

Thanks for the help !

like joe said since you don't have front and rearin "park" it may be a relay. checking manuel fuse #2 controls the following:rear light parking light license plate lite.you did check fuse right?rear bulb is12v 21/5w parking light is 12v 5w.pull out parking light and check it after you check fuse but if fuse was blown you would not have license plate light.

It is a good day !
Saddam was given a beard trim courtesy of our brave American forces, and I solved my parking light issue.

Apparently, there is a small, thin gray wire that goes into the headlight plug. This wire was shorting in the Romex plug.

All lights work now !

Thanks !
