Now read this!
Copied from the AMA page.
Taxpayers may pick up the tab for any judgment in Janklow civil case Mar. 22 – There's one more twist in the case of former U.S. Rep. Bill Janklow of South Dakota, convicted in December of felony manslaughter for causing a collision in which a motorcyclist died. After escaping with just 100 days in jail out of a potential sentence of up to 11 years, Janklow will now get virtual immunity from any civil damages resulting from the crash. U.S. Attorney Tom Heffelfinger has ruled that Janklow was "acting within the scope of his federal employment" last August when he drove through a stop sign at a speed of over 70 mph, causing the crash that killed Randolph Scott, 55, of Hardwick, Minnesota. As a result, says Heffelfinger, Janklow cannot be held personally responsible for the crash, and any damages must be paid by taxpayers. Within the scope of his federal employment? WTF!

How is breaking the law within the scope of his employment.? I guess this means any federal employee can take anothers life, and not be sued civilly, so long as he's on the job?
