Question Help! Spiegler steel brake lines question.

Installing full set.

Started on rear and I see that the male end of the brake line does not thread in all the way to flush with the female receiver like the OEM "collared" rubber brake line.
Is this just a compression fitting?

Do I just tighten in to snug at this end?
Torque recommend is 18-22 NM in the instructions.

There are 3 aluminum crush washers included.
I assume that there is an extra and that you use 2 of them on the bango end of the brake line only.
Correct?

To recap, use crush washers on banjo ends only.

Please confirm

Thanks,

That's how I did it.
You may also call Spiegler - they are happy to help.

RD, I thought the same thing when I did mine when threading in the rear line. The rear line (non banjo end) threads in and will bottom out against the internal pressure fitting. Looks odd, but that's how that end works, so don't use the aluminum crush washers on it. The crush washers are to be used on the banjo portions of the lines only (one one either side). Any extra crush washers can be thrown over your left shoulder after making a wish. One tip I would give, is make sure when you refill the front reservoir and replace the rubber diaphram, you clean off any extra fluid that be forced out and on to the edges of the reservoir. That way when you get up to speed this bit isn't blown all over...

Talking with the Techs at Galfer recently I was told never to fill the reservoir more then 3/4 full when using stainless lines. If you don't have an air space for expansion when the fluid gets hot the pistons in the calipers can't retract. He claims they see this all the time at the track. How are you guys routing the left side front line around the telelever. Got a pic?

The set that RD has, comes with its own "T" for the front (mounted on the rt fork) and you reuse the steel fixed line present, to span either side (so that remains). This isn't a dual banjo if that's what you are asking? The front system, is composed of 3 braided lines...

OK, the set up I have for my wife's Prep from Galfer consists of two long lines with the dual banjo. Just wondering what others have done with the second(left) line to keep it looking clean & out of harms way.

Rapido,
You shouldn't be messing with something that came from the factory flawlessly engineered. Unless your trying to keep up with the glitzawitz crowd. Best,
